Marie C. (Tisdelle) Tanguay, 72, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on October 16, 2026 at St. Luke’s Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Born in Acushnet, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Rachel (Masse) Tisdelle. She was a life-long resident of Acushnet and New Bedford.
Marie’s biggest love and greatest source of pride was that of her family. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and loved to gift the things she made to her loved ones. She always had an arsenal of jokes for anyone who needed a good laugh, and a pot of coffee brewing for anyone who needed to talk. Marie enjoyed the simple things in life; spending time with her husband, children, and grandkitties, sipping a good cup of coffee, and watching the Patriots. She enjoyed bingo night and coffee hour with her friends. She was a light for those around her, and she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Gerard I. Tanguay, and her two children, Amanda M. Dacosta (Tanguay) and her husband Michael of Fall River, and Matthew Tanguay of Attleboro; one sister,Pauline Chmielewski and her husband Robert of Clovis, CA; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joseph A. Tisdelle, Robert J. Tisdelle, Jacqueline A. Vardo, and Denise C. Branco.
Visiting hours will be held with Marie's cremains at Perry Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with a service to be held during this time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Association.
The family kindly asks those who attend her service to wear pink or bright colors. As Marie would say,“Be a flamingo in a flock of pigeons.”
Arrangements are by Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts, which offers convenient facilities, including a lighted parking lot and wheelchair accessibility for attendees.
