Marta Peixoto

Mrs. Marta Peixoto of New Bedford passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital on April 28, 2024. Marta was the beloved wife of the late Jaime S. Peixoto.  She was the daughter of the late Joao deMelo and Maria Dosanjos Furtado.

 Marta leaves behind a legacy of love, happiness, and memories with her two children, her daughter Nancy Demetrio and her husband Luis of North Dartmouth and Delia Peixoto of New Bedford. Two grandchildren, Matthew Demetrio of Tomar, Portugal and Amanda Demetrio and her companion Nick Couto of Somerset. She was also the great grandmother to Auralia Fay and Solana Sage. She was the sister of the late, Joao Melo Pine, Manuel Melo, Daniel Melo and Madalena Linhares.

 Marta had many past times and hobbies but could always be found smiling in her garden with all her flowers. She also enjoyed her “downtime” which was shopping and could be found out and about doing that. Marta above everything else enjoyed nothing better than being with her Grandchildren who she had helped raise from the day they were born, she always loved buying them new outfits because they were her babies.

 Marta’s visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 02, 2024. Visiting hours will take place at Perry Funeral Home from 8:00 A.M. – 9:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Saint John Cemetery, New Bedford.
