Melissa Maciel

Melissa Maciel, age 43, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Born on April 13, 1982, she was beloved daughter of John L. Maciel and Maria G. Damaso.

Melissa is survived by her parents, Maria G. Damaso; John L. Maciel and his wife Mary B. Maciel. Her 2 children Victoria and Jordan who are her absolute pride and joy. Her grandmother Adriana Damaso.

Melissa is also survived by her brother Derrick Maciel and his wife Melissa.Her sister Ciara Pontagarca and fiancé Richard. Her nephews; Jaxon,Kamden, Lincoln, Richard III, & Julian. Her niece Adalee. Her dearest and closest uncle, David Damaso and his wife Christine who is her best friend. Her extended family also includes step-sisters Shawneen and Leahni, step-brother Treva, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, the late; Tiberio Damaso and Joao Maciel and Maria Helena Pacheco Maciel.

Melissa will forever be remembered for her infectious loud laugh and huge heart, her spiritual belief and ability to find forgiveness and beauty in all.

Melissa’s visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Perry Funeral Home from 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. Cremation will follow.
