Michael Raymond Medeiros, born on November 25, 1958, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
Michael was a man known for his strength, his humor, and his deep love for the outdoors. The mountains of Colorado held a special place in his heart, where he found both peace and adventure. He loved camping—being out in nature, surrounded by fresh air and open skies was where he felt most at home. Whether four-wheeling through rugged terrain in his Toyota truck or simply taking in the quiet beauty of the mountains, he was happiest outside.
He found equal joy in working with his hands. Michael dedicated much of his life to construction and home improvement, where he became known for his exceptional skill and craftsmanship. Gifted with a natural ability to build and an unwavering determination, he could create, fix, and bring ideas to life in a way that left a lasting impression on everyone around him. Many of his happiest moments were spent in his garage, fully immersed in a project, often with a cold beer nearby.
That same determination defined who he was—brave, resilient, and steadfast through life’s challenges. He was also truly funny, with a quick wit and a dry sense of humor that could catch you off guard and bring laughter exactly when it was needed most. His presence filled a room, and his laughter will be deeply missed.
Michael held a quiet Christian faith, and those who knew him take comfort in knowing he is at peace and reunited with loved ones who went before him.
He is survived by his mother, Helen Rose Medeiros; his daughters, Jessica Rae Medeiros and Alyssa Michelle Medeiros; his beloved grandchildren, Adalyn Fae Kolesnikov and Ashton Ray Kolesnikov; and his former spouse, Nancy Lynn Colby.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond James Medeiros, and his brother, Russell James Medeiros.
Michael will be remembered for his courage, his craftsmanship, his love of the mountains, and the laughter he brought to those around him.
A celebration of his life will be held in the Rocky Mountains this spring, when the wildflowers bloom, where his ashes will be lovingly spread in one of the places he held most dear.
He will forever be part of the mountains he loved—his spirit carried in the wind, his memory etched into the peaks, and his legacy living on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home located at 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, MA.
