Michael Mello

Michael Mello, 63, of New Bedford, MA, passed away on January 26, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford. Born on April 7, 1962, to the late Manuel Mello and Dolores (Ferreira) Mello, Michael was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Michael’s greatest joy in life came from spending time with those he loved. He cherished his children, Holly, Michael, and Jarred Mello, and was a proud grandfather to his four grandsons, LJ, Caleb, Kamdyn, and JJ. Michael also enjoyed close relationships with his siblings, Linda Alexander, James Mello, and Kyle Mello, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Known for his love of fishing, Michael was passionate about his work and found fulfillment in the time he spent on the water. Whether out with friends or working in the field, he embraced life with a hardworking spirit and a kind, easygoing demeanor.

Michael was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Manuel Mello Jr, Paul Mello, and Robert Mello. He was also predeceased by his beloved stepdaughter, Katelynn Vertefeuille.

Michael's presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared with his family and friends.
