Michael Ponte

New Bedford – Michael David Ponte, age 68, of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

Mike was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Natalie (Pimental) Ponte and George Ponte. He is survived by 3 children, Jodie Lambeau, Tracy Ponte, and Nicole Ponte; a stepson, Dylan Ponte; a grandchild, Aubrey Sherman; and 5 siblings: Michele Ponte, Kenny Ponte, Larry Ponte, Nina Whiting, and Caristina Seed.

Mike was a welder by trade and worked as a fisherman and tradesman throughout his life. A classic Mr. Fix It, he always had a project to work on and especially loved auto mechanics. He was a lifelong fan of Garfield, action movies, a good party, and milkshakes. Mike cared deeply about his religion, family and friends, and his cat, Snickerdoodle.

Friends and family are invited to attend Mike's memorial service, to be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 from 3 P.M. - 5 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home on Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
