Noel Gonzalez, aged 72, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He had shared a devoted partnership for 38 years with the late Carmen Trinidad Maldonado, a bond that was a cornerstone of his life.
Born on November 27, 1953, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Noel was the cherished son of the late Gregorio Gonzalez and Teofila (Sud) Gonzalez. His life was marked by dedication and warmth, qualities reflected in both his professional and personal endeavors. Noel faithfully worked as a landscaper for Edgewood Landscaping over the years, where his care for nature and the outdoors was evident. He found great joy in long walks and was known for his engaging conversations, which endeared him to all who met him. A lover of music and the simple pleasure of lottery tickets, Noel’s affection extended particularly to his beloved cockatiel, Kenchy, who brought him much happiness.
Noel leaves behind a close-knit family that was central to his life and legacy. He is survived by his children Claudino Trinidad and his wife Paula Trinidad, and Miriam Trinidad and her husband Angel Trinidad. He was a proud grandfather to Nicholas M. Trinidad, Shanell Trinidad, Jose M. Trinidad Jr., Jose M. Lara-Trinidad, and Andrew Howard. His great-grandchildren, Izaiah M. Trinidad, Carter Trinidad, Avah Trinidad, Juelius Trinidad, Jenyvieve Rose Trinidad, Joey Howard, Heaven Howard, and Benji Howard, also survive him, carrying forward his spirit across generations.
Noel’s profound kindness, dedication to family, and joyful engagement with life leave a lasting impression on all who knew him. His memory will continue to be cherished by his family and community, a testament to a life well lived.
Within his extended family, Noel’s special niece, Carmencita Perez, whom he revered as one of his own children, and her husband Jose Perez, continue to honor his memory. Noel’s siblings—Ivan Gonzalez, Sergio Francisco Gregory Jr., Caesar Aurora, Milagros Bellibeau, and Maribel da Silva—survive him, alongside the legacy of his late siblings Virgilio Gonzalez and Edwin Gonzalez. He was also the father of the late Jose M. Trinidad.
