Robert J Sylvia

Robert J. Sylvia, age 79, of New Bedford, MA, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, at his daughter’s home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Norma (Arruda) Sylvia, with whom he shared a deep and enduring bond.

Born on August 20, 1945, in Providence, R.I., Robert was the cherished son of the late Walter Sylvia and Mary (Willett) Sylvia. His early years were spent in the vibrant communities of Rhode Island, before he eventually made New Bedford his home.

Robert dedicated many years of his professional life to the Chamberlain Company, where he was known for his work ethic and commitment to excellence. His time there not only shaped his career but also forged lasting friendships and memories that he carried with him throughout his life.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra A. Krosschell, and his son, Robert Sylvia Jr. Robert took great pride in being a grandfather to his grandsons, Jacob Krosschell, Cole Szczupak, and Joseph Szczupak, as well as his granddaughters, Cassandra Cruz and Victoria-Lynn Sylvia. He also held tremendous joy in the arrival of his great-grandson, Karter Cruz, whose presence brought a special light to Robert's later years. Robert’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will remember him fondly for his kindness, warmth, and unwavering love.

Robert's visiting hours and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., followed by cremation.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford.
