In Loving Memory of Rodolfo Almeida
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rodolfo Almeida, a beloved family man, community member, and a true patriot. Rodolfo was born in 1929 in São Miguel Azores, where he devoted his life to touching the lives of those around him and leaving an incredible mark on the world.
He was the beloved husband of the late Amelia Almeida and the beloved son of the late Maria de Lurdes (Adriano) and Manuel Almeida. He had worked as a machine operator at Continental Screw for many years.
Rodolfo was a proud supporter of his favorite soccer team, F.C. Porto, reflecting his passion for the sport. A family man at heart, he had a deep love for his animals and engaged in multiple careers, from importing goods to various islands on cargo ships, basket weaving and a skilled mason throughout his life.
One of Rodolfo's significant contributions was in the construction of the Church in Ribeira Chão, where his craftsmanship and dedication to his community was on full display. As the patriarch of the family, Rodolfo possessed an infectious smile that lit up any room he entered. His commitment to service extended to the Portuguese military, where he served from 1949 to 1951 as a 2nd corporal, demonstrating both bravery and devotion.
Immigrating to the United States in 1972, Rodolfo found joy in simple pleasures, such as playing dominos and showcasing his musical talents with multiple instruments. Tending to his vine and nurturing his musical abilities brought him a sense of fulfillment. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Rodolfo took great delight in spending time with his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren where his sense of humor and infectious laughter brought joy to those around him.
His happiness was found in helping others with any task, embodying a selfless and caring spirit. Rodolfo was a faithful attendee of mass and a parishioner of Mount Carmel Church in New Bedford.
In remembering Rodolfo Almeida, we celebrate a life well-lived — a life dedicated to family, community, and service. His legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, and may his spirit continue to inspire us all.
