Ruth F. Almeida

New Bedford - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ruth F. (Walton) Almeida, who left this world on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Care One at New Bedford, surrounded by her loving family. Ruth, age 99, was a lifelong resident of New Bedford, Massachusetts, born on August 2, 1925. She was the devoted wife of the late Leonard Almeida.

Ruth was the cherished daughter of the late Thomas E. Walton and Rosina (St. Pierre) Walton. Throughout her life, she worked tirelessly, spending many years as a packer for a local pocketbook manufacturer, contributing to her community and supporting her family with dedication.

Ruth is survived by her son, Stephen Almeida and his longtime partner, Patricia Boughner; her daughter, Joyce Fernandes and her husband Louis Fernandes. She will also be fondly remembered by her two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were a source of great joy in her later years. In addition to her immediate family, Ruth is survived by her sister, Zulmira Almeida, and her sister-in-law, Elvira Almeida. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert R. Walton.

Ruth 's legacy of love, strength, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

Her family and friends will gather to pay their respects during visiting hours and funeral services at Perry Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., with a service taking place at noon. Burial will follow immediately in St. John Cemetery.
