Suzanne (Barboza) Berard, age 80, of Acushnet, Massachusetts, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at her home, surrounded by loved ones. She was the cherished wife of Louis Berard, who stood by her side through all of life's joys and challenges, for 57 years.
Born on August 14, 1945, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Suzanne was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel Barboza and Joanne (Silva) Barboza-Cambra. She carried the warmth and kindness of her family throughout her life. Suzanne dedicated many years of her professional life to serving in various administrative positions at the Brockton Campus of the VA Boston Healthcare System, where she was known for her dedication to our veterans and her gregarious sense of humor.
A woman of diverse interests, Suzanne had a passion for arts and crafts that showcased her creativity and a voracious love for reading that offered her countless adventures through the pages of innumerable books. Additionally, she cherished the time she spent RVing with her family and friends.
Suzanne's memory will be lovingly upheld by her devoted husband, Louis; her son, Peter M. Berard, and his wife Sheila; her treasured grandchildren, Olivia C. and William J. Berard; as well as her three nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Barboza, whose absence is felt deeply by those who knew them both.
The legacy of Suzanne is one of love, creativity, and a spirit that embraced the beauty of life. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Suzanne’s visiting hours and funeral services will take place on Thursday, December 11, 2025. Visiting hours at Perry Funeral Home will be held from 8:30 A.M. – 10:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julie Billiart Church at 11:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
