It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my beloved husband, William L. "Bill" Costa. Myself and my children, Christopher Costa, Jane Sylvia and Daniel Costa understand that Bill touched many lives. His life and personality lives on through us.
Bill always reminded us of the importance of paying it forward and that we are all working to become better versions of ourselves, making this a cornerstone of his life and instilling this thinking within his family.
Doing for others brought joy to Bill’s life. Whether he was cutting hair at Brigham Barbershop, offering life advice or helping friends and family with the golf swing, Bill was always eager to lend a hand and knew exactly how to bring a smile to anyone’s face. We ask that you please think of Bill the next time you do a kind deed.
One of Bill’s many passions was his love for golf. Rain or shine it was a guarantee that Bill would be on the course or in the yard practicing his swing. He loved the game not for the score but for the company, the challenge, and the quiet thrill of chasing something just out of reach.
Bill’s love for golf was only trumped by his dedication to coaching local athletes which led to Bill being inducted into the New Bedford Gridiron Hall of Fame in 2003 where The Bill “1-2-Bang” Costa NBHS Football Scholarship Fund grants a deserving athlete financial assistance in their pursuit for higher education. Bill was incredibly proud of this fund and the doors it opened to its recipients.
Bill lead a life full of laughter, purpose and dedication to his friends, family and community. After 66 years of sharing my life with Bill, my heart aches but I know that through our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren his life lives on.
Bill is survived by our three children and their families:
Daniel, Darlene, Gregory and Amanda Costa.
Jane and Christopher Sylvia. Melissa, Jameson and Addyson Gatenby. Mallory, Justin and Summer Ohlson.
Christopher and Dianne Costa. Matthew, Lindsey and Charlotte Costa. Mitchel, Rebekah and Myles Faria.
With all my love and prayers. Liduina “Lee” Costa
