In Loving Memory of William Faria

New Bedford – William Faria, age 97, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2024, surrounded by his adoring family in the comfort of his home. He leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

William, born in New Bedford, MA, to the late Bemvinda Andrade and Manuel Faria, was a remarkable individual who made a significant impact on his community. As the founder of Swift Dart Auto Sales, he pioneered one of the earliest Subaru dealerships in New England.

A proud United States Navy Veteran, William served with honor during WWll, exemplifying courage and dedication to his country. During his tenure in the Navy, William served aboard the U.S.S Circe, a vessel that played a vital role in the vast armada off the shores of Okinawa during World War II. For his commendable service, he was honored with several prestigious awards, including the World War II Victory Medal, the American Arena Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Area Medal.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, William had a passion for music, particularly playing the Ukulele. Affectionately known as Fifi to his friends, he shared his joy for life through the strings of his instrument. However, his greatest joy came from spending cherished moments with his beloved family.

William's journey of 97 years was a testament to the enduring power of love. He celebrated 71 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Albertine "Tina" Faria, creating a bond that stood the test of time. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and shared memories.

He is survived by his loving wife Tina and their children, Russell, Randall, and Richard, along with his daughter, Patti. William's presence will continue to be felt through the lives of his 6 grandchildren, each a testament to the enduring impact of his wisdom and love. He was also the father of the late Jeffrey Faria, whose memory we hold close in our hearts.

While we mourn the loss of William, we also celebrate the rich tapestry of his life, marked by resilience, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to family. In remembrance, let us honor the man known as Fifi, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a true patriot.

William Faria will be dearly missed, and his memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of sharing in his remarkable journey.
