Zelia F. (Pereira) Medeiros

Zelia F. (Pereira) Medeiros, 76, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Manuel J. Medeiros.

Born on July 22, 1949, in Faial, Azores, Portugal, Zelia was the beloved daughter of the late Luis Lopes Pereira and Cristina (Correia) Pereira. She immigrated to the United States and made her home in New Bedford, where she built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. Zelia was employed as a seamstress for many years with a local clothing manufacturer, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.

Zelia is survived by her devoted children, Elizabeth O’Brien and husband Paul, Daniel and David Medeiros, Manuel Medeiros and wife Cheryl, and Teresa DuToit and husband Kevin; 8 beautiful grandchildren, Ciara Tomasia and husband Jay, Ian O’Brien, Chloe O’Brien, Cameron Medeiros, Nicholas Medeiros, Marshall Medeiros, Cody Medeiros and Nevan Reynolds; and numerous extended family members and dear friends.

Zelia’s visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026. Visiting hours will take place at Perry Funeral Home from 8:00am – 9:30am and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00am. Burial will immediately follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts, which offers convenient facilities, including a lighted parking lot and wheelchair accessibility for attendees.
